The vision at YouPage is to create the internet's most comprehensive user generated local directory. The need for a new local search system was born out of the perceived limitations of current keyword based systems. The main limitation being that it is difficult to associate meaning to a local search. What if I want to know what's happening in my local area next Thursday night? These and similar searches require in our opinion a different approach. At YouPage, we believe that this kind of search requires more of a two way dialogue between people in a local area offering services and people looking for it. This specialist need led to the development of a new approach to local search and YouPage, the internet's local directory was born.
